To coincide with the release of
“The Vital Edge” on Amazon, the start of the Football World Cup, and a great summer of sport, I am holding a competition in which THREE signed copies of my new book will be won. Read on to find out more…
Entries will close at 5pm on Monday 23 June 2014 (UK time), after which the draw will take place. The winners will be posted and notified on my blog, on Facebook and via Twitter.
To be in with chance of winning, you can enter through any and all of the following ways:
1) You can leave a comment at the bottom of this post stating a sporting figure (past or present) who has been the most inspirational to you, and why. Only one comment will count per entrant (though multiple comments are welcome!), and only comments made by the closing date will be entered into the draw.
2) You can
tweet about a sporting figure (past or present) who has been the most inspirational to you, and why,
using the hashtag #TheVitalEdge (as much as you can with the character limit on Twitter. If it takes a couple of tweets, that’s fine, but this will obviously count as only one entry). Please note that only tweets that have used the hashtag #TheVitalEdge by the closing date will be entered in the draw.
3) You can Like the Gyro Consulting Facebook Page and leave a comment on this post stating a sporting figure (past or present) who has been the most inspirational to you, and why. Those who are ‘Liking’ the page and have left a comment on the post by the closing date will be entered into the draw.
Each of the above counts as one entry. So feel free to do one, two, or all three of the above to increase your chances of winning.
Rules: There’s only one, really, and that’s that you can’t win more than once. So feel free to comment, tweet and ‘Like’ to increase your chances but if you get drawn out of a hat and you’ve already won from another hat then you won’t be able to win another one. Sorry!
The three winners will be drawn from three different hats (entries on the blog, entries on Twitter, and entries on Facebook). I will contact the winners directly following the prize draw. If a winner has not provided a mailing address within a week of being contacted, then another winner will be drawn out of the hat.
Finally, thank you to everyone for your support, purchases and great feedback so far. Keep it coming through. If you already have a copy of the book, don’t let it put you off entering. You could always give one away as a gift!
So join in by leaving a comment below, tweeting using the hashtag, and Liking and commenting on Facebook.
Good luck!

My father, Leo. At 86 he is still competing in athletics and holds and sets world records every year. He has competed for over 60 years, at first just a middle of the field competitor. But persistence now sees him at the top of his game. He first represented his country at the age of 69. He never gave up…he shared his passion…he coached and mentored. he did his turn in administration…he always showed his enjoyment…and now Dad truly is a champion…and still strives for improvement…he’ll die running!….but he’ll never give up.
Thanks for sharing Shaun. What an inspiration your father is. You must be so proud. An incredible story. I love the message that there is always something to learn, to improve on, and, no matter your age, you can still set challenges and targets.
One sports inspiration is Brett Favre who passed for 399 yards and four touchdowns a day after his father’s death, leading the Packers to a 41-7 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Monday night while moving into second place in NFL history for career TD passes in December 2003.
Thanks Jon. Brett is a legend. I did not know that this amazing performance was delivered the day after his dad died. Wow!
